Fall Fashion

As summer is winding down – with some of us already experiencing the Fall weather already – its time to change up the wardrobe.
I personally can not stand fall fashion – I love my flirty summer dresses, skirts, tank tops, strappy sandals, etc. In general I adore summer attire . But it’s that time again for the bulky scarves, gloves and yes the sweaters and outerwear.
So on this post I m going to focus on some of the fall trends this year, some fall staples and how to make a fall wardrobe sexy.
Fall Staples
You should already know  that Staples are the items we want to invest in when shopping – trend pieces come and go so no need to splurge on those items, but rather focus on the pieces that can be paired up with multiple pieces ;
The Blazer
The Blazer is a necessary splurge piece. It’s very important for the blazer to be fitted to your shape properly. Definitely, the higher the quality the better the fit. The blazer spices up the black classic dress you might wear to the office and adds a touch of sophistication and style when you pair it with a regular pair of jeans also.

The Cardigan
If it’s the appropriate shape the cardigan can be paired with a girlie shirt, a mini skirt a little dress and looks amazing with jeans. A cardigan should not be too bulky or short.  Lastly, with this staple the fit is very important

The White Shirt
The pristine white blouse allows a multiple of options on pairing possibilities. Works as an under layer with a racer back vest blazer or sweater – a crisp button down shirt is also posh on its own.

The Scarf
Light Weight Scarf around your neck and shoulders for both a layer of warmth and some color to your outfit. It adds instant style to a suit or a crisp white shirt. Tie it on your neck or purse handle for a chic look. (Included some instructions on how to tie some scarfs)

Leather Boots
Tall leather boots – whether they are scrunch boots or riding boots, they are a staple. Limit the color to a natural brown or black. Tall leather boots are always fashionable tucked in your pant or with a skirt or dress

Fall Trends

Bright Colors
Vibrant hues were all over the runway this year – especially when it came to coats which ranged from tomato reds to gold and deep violet. No more black and gray for Fall this year. What do you think of these eye popping tones – could you dare wear them?

Hats and Lady Handbags
Fancy hats and lady like handbags are a definite DO this fall. They can jazz up the basic black coat or add a bit of glam to your everyday look.

Midi and Maxi Skirts
What I like to call peasant skirts. You better embrace the longer length skirts although not as sexy as mini. Sex appeal is showcased on how you wear your clothes and carry yourself and not on the type of clothes you wear.

Prints
The variety of prints in the Fall/Winter 2011/2012 collections is huge from tiny polka dots in Gucci and bold flowers in Versace. Be very careful with prints you really need to understand what print you want because prints do not go with everything or with every body shape.
Pleats and Frills

Late last year and earlier this year we were seeing manly suits on women and a sort of androgynous style appear on the runways. But great news for my girly girls who don’t want to transform into the strong man look and want to remain fragile. Pleats, frills cute rosettes and lovely embroidery are all in this year.  Both Valentino and Christian Dior collections brought back the romantic pretty look.
Chunky Knit Sweaters
Fall and winter are cold seasons so definitely there were a lot of warm chunky sweaters in this season’s designer collection. A lot of varieties of knitted items were in this Fall/Winter collections and of course Missoni is the main producer of knitted sweaters. Be sure to check out their more affordable line in a Target near you or online.
Coats
Fall and winter are all about outerwear.  On the 2011/2012 Runway this Fall it still seems that the Military Coat seen on Versace’s collection and youthful and sexy cropped trench coats from Burberry ruled the runway this season. Cropped hooded coats trimmed with fur were seen by Gucci, Michael Kors and Oscar de la Renta and Hermes showcased the wider style poncho coat. The varieties on different styles of coats are unlimited so just go for a piece that suits you and you like.

Keeping your Sexy in the Winter
Like I said earlier sex appeal is not diffused by what you wear but how you wear it and carry yourself.
Tips on still keeping warm and sexy in the winter;
-          FIT FIT FIT – the fit is extraordinary important I can not express this enough – if it is not fitted it wont look right on your body no matter your size
-          Dresses Dresses Dresses – why not invest in a nice turtleneck mini dress. Everything on top is covered from the cold and then its just leg. If it’s too cold for bare legs wear knee high boots or a textured tight. A sweater dress can cling to your body while showing off your curves
-          Belt it up – No matter what you are wearing, a nice thick of skinny belt around the waist to bring attention your woman curves. Whether it’s a belt over a coat or a sweater.
-          Layers Layers Layers – keep each layer of clothing thin and fitted so you don’t appear bulky of frumpy
Till next time – Remain in a Fashion State of Mind
